F Lydian aug Scale
F Lydian aug contains 7 notes: F, G, A, B, C♯, D, E. It has 1 sharp: C♯. The step pattern is W–W–W–W–H–W–H. It is derived from F Melodic Minor.
Lydian augmented is a bright, modern, dreamy scale that sounds like it's floating. Both the raised 4th and raised 5th push upward, creating the most luminous mode in the melodic minor family.
Built as 1 - 2 - 3 - #4 - #5 - 6 - 7, this is the 3rd mode of melodic minor. It naturally forms a maj7#5 chord. The #4 and #5 both push upward, creating a scale with no "pull-down" intervals. It's the natural choice for maj7#5 chords or for adding extreme bright tension to standard maj7 chords on static vamps.
Use standard Lydian shapes but raise the 5th one fret. This scale works beautifully on clean tones with reverb for ambient, floating textures. Try it over sustained maj7 chords to create an ethereal, dreamy atmosphere. Pat Metheny-style jazz guitarists use it frequently for its weightless quality.
