This policy explains what data we collect when you use FretCrunch, why we collect it, and how we protect it. We collect as little as possible and never sell your data.
When you use FretCrunch, we collect anonymous usage analytics through PostHog (EU-hosted). This includes pages visited, features used, device type, browser, and country. If you accept cookies, we also record session replays to understand how the app is used and fix usability issues. Session replays may capture mouse movements, clicks, and scrolls but never passwords, payment details, or sensitive form inputs.
FretCrunch uses localStorage to save your preferences (language, theme, tuning settings). These are essential for the app to work and do not require consent. Analytics cookies from PostHog are only set if you explicitly accept them via the cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no session data is collected.
Essential storage (preferences): Legitimate interest — necessary for the app to function. Analytics and session replays: Consent — only activated when you accept via the cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser data or using the cookie settings.
We use PostHog Inc. as our analytics processor. PostHog is configured to use EU-based servers (Frankfurt) and we have a Data Processing Agreement in place. PostHog's privacy policy is available at posthog.com/privacy.
Analytics data is retained for 12 months. Session replays are retained for 30 days. Since all data is anonymous, it cannot be linked to individual users.
If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies or localStorage. Since FretCrunch does not require an account and analytics data is anonymous, we cannot identify or retrieve data linked to a specific individual.
FretCrunch uses Google Fonts for typography. Google may collect your IP address when fonts are loaded. No other third-party tracking services are used.
FretCrunch is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
For privacy questions, a dedicated contact channel will be made available on this page in the future.
